| Yes, there is already a starter thread. This one is here to separate those working on the ice starter sprites, from those of us working on a ground starter. So yeah. Get to work, folks.
We currently have a mammoth and a kinda rhino-ish-thing. Ground starter should be based on a less bulky creature, possibly a burrowing animal?

| Maybe a mole. The real ground type pokemon are all heavy and rugged, we'd be breaking the trend.
How bout a modded ditto?

| A modded ditto sound like a pretty solid idea.
Maybe we could make the ground starter a modded tuco-tuco? (A tuco-tuco is a burrowing rodent like a mole)

How bout a modded ditto? hmm i can see this. and as a mole what if we gave it an ability so that moves that lower accuracy dont affect it sense it would be blind in some sense.

| I'm working on a sketch right now, for a mole.
Unfortunately I have to draw it by laptop mousepad, so it'll take 10 times as long as be 1/10th as good. Sorry.
Someone wanna post the glyptodon ITT? I's lazy

| Yeah I'm shit at drawing, but you get the idea. At this point there are no details/colors/etc... but I'll add them upon request. | |

| Huh, just found this thread for '09 CAP, looks like this idea for glyptodon poke has been fooled around with for awhile. - Spoiler:
Then again there are four existing mole pokemon already...

| Isn't that the thread you got the idea from in the first place?
Also, unevolved form won't have nails. They'll be like 9 inches long on the final evo

No, I never went to the Smogon forums before. I just stumbled across this while looking for glyptodont pictures.

| Ah. Well the sandslash-esque picture you posted seems to have come from that thread.
I gotta say, Bidoof, that little tuco thing is pretty damn adorable.

| It could be our bidoof/sentret/rattata/zigzagoon
You know, the normal-type rodent that's fucking everywhere around the starter town

LOL YES. But besides a mole what else could we use as the ground starter? Theres so many other burrowing animals. For example it could be based on a fennec fox, ground hog, copyu/nutria or even a mongoose.

Gah a fennec fox first stage would be so goddamn cute. How about the andrewsarchus? It looks like we could make a good design out of it. I don't think we need to relate the actual species too closely to the type: look at the current Pokemon (a fire horse; an electric rat; a fighting mushroom; etc).

We could always just make a different pokemon based off of the fennec fox. The andrewsarchus does look like it would make for a good base for the ground pokemon. What color should it be though? The ice starter is part blue and the steel starter is part red, so maybe we could make the ground starter part yellow so the three starters would be the three primary colors. Sorry if i dont make that much sense im just tired XD

I think the RBY concept would be a good idea; I hadn't thought of the primary color thing. How about the hyracotherium? http://enselle.free.fr/mammifere/hyracotherium.jpg

| As for the Ground starter, we're making it a glass cannon, right? Y'know, ridiculously high speed and attack, but low HP and (Special)Defence. So should we start working on the moveset, or should that be one of the last things we do? | |

| Just throwing this out there, but seeing as we have two quadrupedal starters, we may want to consider making this one bipedal. - The Mighty Pepper wrote:

So should we start working on the moveset, or should that be one of the last things we do? In my opinion the priority should generally be art, then sprites, then base stats, then moveset.
